Winter Concert, This n' That...

Four items to cover this week...

1. REMINDER: BOWMORE WINTER CONCERT, WED DEC 8

CONCERT BAKERS NEEDED! The Bake Sale Committee kindly asks for donations of baked goods and people to volunteer to sell the yummy delights at the concert. Please drop off baked items at the school office as of Tues Dec 7. Your containers will be available for pick up on Nov 9 up in the teachers' lounge. If you can bake and/or volunteer, please email bowmoresc@gmail.com with the subject "Winter Concert Bake Sale." Gentle reminder: we are a nut-free school.

2. FUN FAIR WAS FUN & PROFITABLE... THANK YOU!

Thursday, Nov 25th was a great night at Bowmore thanks to the Family Portrait Night & Holiday Fun Fair Committee (Jennifer, Sheila, and Joanne), volunteers, bakers, staff, generous parents/caregivers and as-always supportive local businesses who contributed to the success of this first-time fundraiser. Over $3,000 was raised to help enrich our children's education. Way to go Bowmore!

3. ECO SCHOOL
On Nov 24 members of the Green Team Committee, school administrators and many parents met to discuss Bowmore's Eco School Initiatives. During the meeting the group narrowed down the scope of work to 7 goals. If you'd like a copy of the goals, or would like to join the committee, please email us at bowmoresc@gmail.com.

4. WARD 32 COUNCIL MEETING, DEC 2
Sheila Cary-Meagher's first Ward Council Meeting of the 2010-2011 school year will be held this Thursday, Dec 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at Secord Elementary School, 101 Barrington Avenue. Discussion to include: Full-Day Kindergarten; K-8 Schools; Programmes of Choice; Our Green Future Update; Ward 16 PIAC Alternate; Ward 15 FSLAC Representative; New Business. Nov 25: Bowmore Family Portrait Night & Holiday Fun Fair!

Forget about the hassle of the holidays- just smile and say cheese!

Thursday, November 25, 3:30 - 7:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE FAMILY PORTRAITS:
There is a $10 sitting fee, which goes to Bowmore. Choose a package of your choice at various affordable prices, and with each package purchased you will receive a free “add-on," and Bowmore will get 10% of the total sales. To ensure that your photos will be ready in plenty of time to be included in your holiday cards and letters, BrightPics Photography are promising a quick turn-around time. There's still time to register! Please use the form that came home with your kid(s), or pick one up from the Bowmore office.

HOLIDAY FUN FAIR ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

  • 50/50 Draw
  • Poinsettia Sale (great gifts for family & coworkers!)
  • Gingerbread Decorating

All proceeds from the Family Portrait Night & Holiday Fun Fair will go to Bowmore school enrichment activities like Prologue Theatre, Artists & Scientists in the Classroom, field trip buses and much more!

We still need volunteers and bakers! To lend a hand, please fill out the form in the office or email msrose@interlog.com.

Finally, we still need parent donations for the Classroom Dream Baskets, which will be wrapped and raffled. Each classroom has been assigned a theme for the Dream Basket, as follows:

Bowmore "Parent Chat" Wed Nov 24- Please join us!

Bowmore School Council “Parent Chat” is happening next Wednesday, November 24, 6:30 - 8 pm in the 2nd floor Teacher’s Lounge.

This is an informal opportunity to meet other parents and discuss any ideas or concerns you have about matters affecting our kids at Bowmore. We’ll also be discussing Bowmore’s Eco-School initiatives.

Free babysitting and pizza.

Bowmore Movie Night Friday, November 5!



This Friday, November 5 we're showing a classic - Escape to Witch Mountain!! Come out, support our school, and have fun introducing your kids to this classic 1975 hit!

Doors open: 6:00 pm
Movie starts: 6:30 pm

Pizza, popcorn and drinks available for purchase. Suggested donation $2. All money raised goes to School Council-supported activities at Bowmore, such as Artist in the Classroom, Scientist in the Classroom, Prologue Theatre, new musical instruments, athletic gear, school buses & more!

Don't forget to bring your camp chairs! Please note that this film is rated "G".
